Increase your CMM inspection time up to three times!

Renishaw’s new PH20 Probe Head increases touch-trigger inspection throughput up to three times using fast, infinite, rotary positioning and unique “head touch” capability for high-speed point capture with minimal CMM movement.

PH20 5-Axis Touch-Trigger System

The PH20’s unique ‘head touches’ allow measurement points to be taken by moving only the head rather than the CMM structure. Using only the rapid rotary motion of the head, points can be taken faster, and with improved accuracy and repeatability. Furthermore, 5-axis motion eliminates time spent indexing the head. Together these speed increases typically result in a 3-fold improvement in throughput over conventional probing systems.

PH20 head-touchDesigned for use with the industry-standard TP20 touch-trigger probe, the new PH20 head brings five-axis inspection capability to smaller CMMs for the first time by optimizing the working volume of the measurement platform. The PH20 is available for new CMMs, as well as retrofit machines using shank or quill mounting. It can use most existing inspection programs for indexing heads without modification and requires no compressed air.

Easy access to features at any angle

PH20 axis rangeThe PH20’s infinite positioning capability guarantees optimal feature access, minimising stylus changes.

5-axis simultaneous motion allows larger parts to be measured on the CMM by minimising the space required around the part for head rotation.

The PH20 automatically aligns itself with the part coordinate system, avoiding stylus collisions and the requirement for accurate fixtures.

PH10 Motorized Indexing Probe Heads

There are three PH10 models, each of which can carry a range of probes and extensions and can be orientated in 720 repeatable positions, giving access to the most difficult-to-reach workpiece features.

All three variants of the new PH10 heads are now supplied with a revised repeatability specification, down from 0.5 µm (2σ) to just 0.4 µm (2σ) (specified at a distance of 62 mm), giving users improved positioning at the stylus tip. The new specification heads are physically differentiated by a new ‘aqua blast’ finish which gives a modern, matt black appearance.

PH10M

motorised head PH10M matt with SP25 scanning probeThe PH10M can carry long extension bars and complex probes such as SP25M or TP7M. The highly repeatable autojoint allows rapid probe or extension bar changing without the need for re-qualification.

PH10MQ

The PH10MQ is a variant of the PH10M that allows the motorised head to be attached directly to the quill with the B axis of the head inside the quill itself. This option provides a neater and shorter probe mount, with only the A axis protruding from the quill.

PH10T

PH10T motorised head (matt) with TP20 EF touch probeThe PH10T is similar to the PH10M, except that it features an M8 thread probe mount in place of the autojoint.

All M8 threaded probes, such as TP20 and TP200, and extension bars fit directly onto the head. The PH10T is fully compatible with all of Renishaw's stylus and module change systems.

MH20 & MH20i Manual Indexable Probe Heads

Download / View the Renishaw MH20 / MH20i Brochure

The MH20i is a manually adjustable probe heads that combines the TP-20 kinematic stylus module mount with two axis indexing.

The A-axis rotates through ±180° in the X-Y plane. The B-axis rotates through 90° in the Z plane. A lever locks the head in one of up to 168 repeatable positions, set at 15° increments.

The head is capable of carrying the full range of TP20 modules, which can be changed without re-qualification, providing qualification has taken place in each position with each stylus/module combination.

TP20 Touch Probe

The TP20 probe system is ideal for complex part measurement where a range of stylus configurations is needed to access all features on the part.

Stylus Modules offering a wide range of trigger forces allow the probe performance to be accurately matched to the required measurement. A set of probe extensions is also available, as is a 6-way module.

A TP20 Touch Probe is compatible with existing touch trigger probe interfaces.

TP200 High Accuracy Touch Probe

TP200

Download / View the Renishaw TP-200 Brochure

The TP200 probe uses micro strain gauge transducers to deliver excellent repeatability and accurate 3D form measurement even with long styli.

The sensor technology gives sub-micron repeatability and eliminates the lobing characteristics encountered with kinematic probes. The solid state ASIC electronics within the probe ensure reliable operation over millions of trigger points.

The TP200B uses the same technology as TP200 but has been designed to have higher tolerance to vibration. This helps to overcome the problem of 'air' trigger generation which can arise from vibrations transmitted through the CMM or when using long styli with faster positioning speeds.

Features and benefits

  • Strain-gauge technology offers excellent repeatability and precision 3D form measurement.
  • Zero reseat errors.
  • No lobing effect.
  • 6-way measuring capability
  • Stylus reach of up to 100 mm (GF styli)
  • Rapid probe module changing without the need to re-qualify the stylus tips
  • Life of >10 million triggers
